Park is derived from the French word "Parque," meaning enclosed area. This was a word given for the large, broad, and flat, grassy areas between the mountains by the early French trappers in this area.
Examples are Estes Park, Moraine Park, North Park, South Park, Horeshoe Park, Shipler Park, and Never Summer Park. Many Parks Curve refers to the several "Parks" seen from this vantage point: Moraine Park, Beaver Meadows, Horseshoe Park, and others. Park, as in National Park, is a related but different usage of the word.#
